Halloween Tricks & Treats 2024

Welcome to Sakura's fifth event: Halloween Tricks & Treats 2024 (also known as the "Halloween 2024" event)!

There will be two parts to this event: Trick or Treating and Halloween Carnival, the former being a repeat of last year's trick or treating activity and the latter being a version of a past Sakura event held during the previous 1.0 run.

In general, this will be a fairly simple and easy event and while it can be joined at any time during the month, to get the most out of the event, don't hesitate to participate from the beginning!

Event Period: October 9th, 2024 ~ October 31st, 2024

TRICK OR TREATING

As already mentioned, the first part of our event is a repeat of the same trick or treating event we held last year, during the Autumn Festival 2023 event. This is also a returning activity from the past run (and other TCGs) where players can set up their own forum threads to use as "houses" and others may visit to receive a treat— or a trick first, then a treat!

In this activity, players can either be Homeowners (those who set up a house), Trick-or-Treaters (those who visit houses), or BOTH – but we encourage players who only want to be a Trick-or-Treater to consider opening up their own house as well, so there are more opportunities for treats to be given out!

More details can be found below and to the right (depending on your participation role in this activity) & guidelines on how to correctly participate can be found in the event information thread on the forums!

TRICK OR TREATERS

Trick-or-Treaters just need visit as many of the participating players' houses as they like and collect treats! If there is a trick, you MUST complete/answer whatever the homeowner asks for first before taking your teat, to honor the spirit and theme of the activity.

Then, players can collect their treats themselves and post in the homeowner's thread with what they received from the given randomizer (as opposed to waiting until the homeowner passes out treats themselves) and that's all; repeat this for every house visited!

Do note that logs for the treats from this event will NOT be saved to your account or on-site records but by posting in each thread with what you got, you'll have a backup for those logs in case you forget or lose them.

HOMEOWNERS

Those who are homeowners will create a thread in the Trick or Treating forum that includes their Personal Stamp as well as a link to the Treat Randomizer, which is what trick-or-treaters will use to grab their TREAT from.

Additionally, homeowners have the option to also include a TRICK, which can be any simple task or question that the Trick-or-Treater needs to complete/answer before they can take their treat! You can find examples of past "tricks" used in last year's event (see below link) and/or refer to the Event Information Thread for some ideas.

Homeowners can also decorate their house (thread) however they like as long as the above components are included but if you need examples or want to see what others have done, check out last year's houses! Please, no jump scares or anything that could be possibly triggering, however!!

PERSONAL STAMPS

These are simply graphics that each homeowner makes themselves for trick-or-treaters to take once they complete a visit to their house, like the example shown on the right!

Stamps not only work as a tracker for players so they know which houses they've already visited but are also what I hope is a fun way for the homeowner to show off something that the represents them– like their favourite character!

Keep in mind that stamps are required if you're a homeowner but you can make it as simple or as fancy as you'd like, as long as it follows the given guidelines (which you can find in its event information thread)!

HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL

The second part of our event is a version of a past Halloween event held during the previous Sakura 1.0 run which some of you may remember! This activity includes a variety of luck-based games, with a new game being posted on the forum, on Wednesdays (whenever we're able to post it that day).

In each game, players will have a choice of picking 1 of the given options, which will either earn them a TRICK or a TREAT once the game/round for that week ends. The catch? Players must pay a fee for every play they want to make in any of the games, just like you pay to try out a carnival game!

The four games that will be available (and when they'll be posted/opened) are below:

  • Lucky Lollipops (Oct. 9) — Choose 1 of the 8 provided lollipops, per play; 4 of them will have a TRICK and 4 will have a TREAT but you won’t know what each lollipop will actually have until a new week starts, which is when the results for the previous week will be announced and plays will be rewarded accordingly! (max. 1 play per round, 1 round per week = 3 rounds/weeks total)

  • Spooky Showdown (Oct. 9) — Choose 1 of the 2 given characters (chosen randomly from those who have decks currently released) participating in the showdown for that week, per play; supporting the winner will earn you 1 of the 4 TREATS whereas supporting the loser will earn you 1 of the 4 TRICKS but what card numbers they pull won't be revealed until a new week starts! (max. 1 play per round, 1 round per week = 3 rounds/weeks total)

  • Cauldron Chaos (Oct. 16) — Choose 1 of the 5 provided cauldrons, per play; 2 of them will have a TRICK and 3 will have a TREAT but you won't know which cauldron has what until the game closes, when the result will be randomized and revealed then! (max. 3 plays total, game opened until end of event)

  • Crazy Candy Apples (Oct. 23) — Choose 1 of the 3 provided candy apples, per play; staff will use a randomizer to see if that candy apple is a TRICK or a TREAT and based off that, 1 of the 4 options will be your reward. Whether an apple is a trick or treat is randomized per play, no matter the player, so choosing the same candy apple multiple times doesn't guarantee you the same result every time! (no limit on total number of plays, game opened until end of event)
More details & guidelines on how to correctly participate can be found in the event information thread on the forums, and each game's individual thread!

Do note that due to the nature of these games, staff activity/presence is required and players must wait for a staff member to process their play and/or post a new round/week reset before they can make a new play or participate again (except for Cauldron Chaos, where players can make all 3 of their plays at once). As such, we ask for your patience as we can't be online all the time and be ready to respond to everything quickly, especially in regards to Crazy Candy Apples!
